Can I put 235-65R16s on my 02 Suburban instead of 245-75-16s?

Hi, I have a set of 235-65-R16s and not sure if there will be a problem putting them on my 02 Suburban 2500 4wd which calls for 245-75-R16s. Any insight?

They'll probably fit, although they'll be narrower and smaller diameter. My concern would be the load range, particularly for a 2500. That size of tire is more of a compact truck size. I think that is the size of like an S10 or Astro, so I'd definitely be concerned that they wouldn't handle the weight of a loaded 3/4 ton Suburban.

Wouldn’t recommend it. 2.4” shorter tire is going to throw your speedo off.

You can put them on, but if they’re not at least rated the same as the 245’s, you’d be risking tire failure.

i am going to be rebuilding my 2005 silverado, into a street rod (never to be used again for hauling) with a modified 6.0 and 4L80 transmission, reusing existing G80 rear. i was looking at using 60 series tires, which are smaller in diameter, i was a bit concerned about the speedometer. where does it get it’s reading from, and how do i compensate for the change in effective gear
ratio. i will have to repair existing gauge package anyway, because the speedometer
stopped working a few years ago. the odometer works, though.
