Hi everyone. Im also what you can call a longtime lurker on these dyi forums which have been a true help to me in the past as well as into the future. So first and foremost thank you to everybody for not twitting and instergrammering there entire time spent on the WWW but taking time to help others in need such as myself who try to save money and gain knowledge and experience to pass onto the next person weather it be a blown fuse to a blown head gasket. Thank you thank you thank you to you all!!!

I have a 2000 chevy silverado z71 vortec engine v6 that idles rough and has a constant CEL flashing. Late october of last year I let my sister borrow my truck to help her and her husband get to and from work and pick up there kids because they had to do that all with one car so i figured it would help them out a lot if they had a second vehicle. Couple weeks pass and she calls me and tells me she starts the truck and noticed it started to idle bad like it wanted to die and also had the CEL flashing while both driving or in a parked position as well as at red lights. I know its not good to drive around in a vehicle in that state but she continued to do so for a day or so until i got my truck back from her. Immediately i cautiously drove it over to jiffylube where one mechanic kindly hooked up his inexpensive (minor if you will but still helpful and better than nothing) scantool for free and i got the codes p0430 and p0300. 6 days later i replaced the sparks plugs and wires but still had the rough idle and blinking/flashing CEL. And before doing anything else i drove the truck over to oreileys this time rough idle, flashing CEL and all to check codes and they had somewhat of an upgrade i guess you can say to that of jiffylubes scan tool (bigger more buttons but still no tech 2) and i got 2 new codes p0135 p0141 along with the already prior diagnosed p0300 and p0430 codes. Keep in mind this is after the plugs and wires smh. Since then the truck has been sitting for 5 months and im just now getting back into the works now that the warm weather is slowly melting the snow and giving me back my natural outside 4stands and a carjack worshop. I did pull the battery out to prevent any damage to it from the extreme cold winter. So ive replaced the spark plugs and wires and am now considering moving on to the fuel filter, O2 sensors, fuel injectors, vacuum test for leaks, and then a crankshaft relearn at my local chevy dealer. If any of these dont fix the problem then its on to the cat converters and instake manifold gaskets. Thats my full story though and i hope somebody can help me out please and thanks in advance!

Replace 02 sensors on bank 1 (sensor 1 & 2) and report back. Have you cleaned the MAF sensor? This is a good idea while you're working on the truck.

I did remove the maf for inspection and a minor cleaning but will be sure to thoroughly clean it this time with some maf cleaning spray as well as clean the k&n air filter. Im also hoping to get to the 02 sensors asap but will defintily post back after i do. Thanks beachburbon for the tips!

Be careful with the K&N filter oil. This has been known to throw codes, by the oil contaminating the MAF down stream. You may want to get the combo MAF cleaner and throttle body cleaner and check your throttle body for gunk too. ($8 at Walmart)

My experience is the o2 sensor is slow to heat up when random misfires are happening. Solve the misfires first. The side throwing the o2 codes is the side that's usually misfiring. I'd get a noid light to check wiring first. Then run some sea foam injector spray through the throttle body and a bottle for the tank. Never not worth it. Before replacing any injectors I'd pull the intake off and replace the gaskets cuz sometime the leak is at the bottom of the gasket and very tough to spot. What's your fuel pressure like? The Shrader valve on the fuel crossover is easy to check. Anything to avoid $125 x 8 for all new injectors.

Update***
Hello again chevy family. So i finally had spare time to work on my truck again. Also id like to let you guys know this is a V8 5.3 vortec engine not a V6 my apologies for any confusion. So last week friday i went to hook up the battery and noticed the negative side terminal was completely corroded so i took a wire brush battery post scraper and clean it up real nice. Upon starting the truck i noticed the engine seemed to pick up more power and did not idle as rough as before. Im not sure if this has anything to do with the misfire. Unfortunately the truck still has a hesitation feel during idle and can be heard more than felt when in park and crannking up the rpm. Also the CEL/SES light is still flashing. So yesterday i managed to pull all the spark plugs back out for inspection and they all looked ok after a little cleaning imo. I will post pictures below. The pictures of the plugs is before and after i clean it up. I also pulled all four of the O2 sensors for inspection which will also have pictures below. My diagnosis of the plugs n O2 sensors were that i noticed that majority of all were covered in what seemed to be black ash which i assume is from the unburnt fuel being circulated throughout the engine and out the exhaust. Again pictures will be below. My next attempt will be to check the egr valve for any build up and gunk as well as to try and find the misfire by swapping around the ignition coils to see if the misfire follows or not. Another fact id like to note is that i noticed white smoke starting to exit out the exhaust around 5-10 minutes of idleing all the while it is 40-50 degrees with the sun out. Thank you to everyone for trying to help i greatly appreciate each and all of you. Please keep reading and posting and i promise to do the same until we can find and fix my particular issues my truck is having in hopes that it will help the next person with these problems. Thank you to everyone again!!Godbless!

Sparkplugs are read before cleaning. Do you think the deposits are from oil or fuel? Oil generally means rings and /or valve guides. A dry then wet compression test will help determine what needs fixing.

The plug deposits indicate a hostile environment for O2 sensors, so they may be bad.
