I have a 2001 Suburban 2500 with the 8.1 4x4. The body has some rust and isn't in the best shape. I found a 2003 Suburban 1500 z71 that is in excellent shape. Can I take the body off the 03 1500 and put it on my 01 2500? I don't have the tools to do this so how much would it cost to have a shop do it?

Short answer, yes you can swap. The model number is based off the chassis rating, not the body. Can’t speak to the cost, but a body shop might be able to help. They usually have the capability of lifting a body completely off a frame for restoration.
