Converting side post to top post w/o post converters?

I have a Duralast Platinum 78-AGM side post battery but I'm converting to a top post set up, and I was wondering, there are 2 circular caps where top posts would be on the battery, and I tried to turn one and it did turn, so would this be an easy way to convert from side to top post? Or is that just a cap on a universal lid and not connected to the electrical components due to the battery being side post?

It would be awesome if it was that easy and I didnt have to buy a new battery, but things are usually never that easy.

Any help is appreciated.

They do make conversion kits for this, but why do you want to convert. Are you adding more things to the battery. If so, you can always do what I did. I welded 2-3/8 stainless steel bolts together bolt head to bolt head. This gives plenty of room for things like amps, the big 3 up grade, ext. The first pic is the extention bolt they make, the second pic is the 2 bolts I welded together.

I'm doing the conversion because I have e-lockers, 2 gauge stereo power and a 0/O power wire from my big 3 upgrade all going to it, and the side posts are too close to the ANL fuse for the power cable and the one for the stereo which are bolted to the side of the fuse box. It's the only place for them because the other side is has the fan relays. So top post would just work better.

I'm having a hell of a time trying to understand what your describing. brand new batteries come with black n red caps. they rip n pull or turn and unscrew off. take them off and connect shi t. I have a dual post battery in my burb, it's the only battery I will buy cuz its great for hooking up jumpers.

Maybe post a pic of your battery and we'll understand more of what your saying.

Yes, the group 78 has both side and top terminals. Then get yourself terminals like these.

Edit: my bad! a group 34/78 has both terminals. Here's what mine looks like.

Ya I don’t get the OP question. Just get an Optima. Deep cycle for all the stuff running, top and side posts.

Yeah. Upon closer inspection there are more of those caps under the sticker, so I think they're just cells. Silly me.

I'll just get post converters until I can afford to get an optima.

Thanks for all the answers, and sorry for the confusing phrasing.

I used these bolts and mounted cables to my side post bolts for this NOCO jumper, now, I can simply plug the one plug in the NOCO and jump with push of a button. Great on day like today 0 degrees, but, no wind in south central, Mn.
