I have what I believe is potentially the worst response from a company I have encountered to date and I promised them that I would spread the word. You can't make this up, at least I can't.

I ordered a plastic steering column cover from GM Parts Giant online for my Silverado. $68. After 4 days, I received a box that was pretty heavy and it had a FORD label on the outside with a part number tag that said it was a HUB. I opened it up and sure enough it looked like a clutch pack hub for a transmission. I contacted GM Parts Giant through their CHAT option and informed them they sent me the incorrect part and when would I get the part I ordered. I was told that I would be contacted within a couple of days with instructions. At that point I said just refund my money please. Again I was told someone would contact me in a couple of days. A couple of days go by and I get an email that says I need to take a picture of the box, label and part and send it to them. I do as requested. I don't hear anything so I contact PayPal who handled the transaction. Then I got an email from GM Parts Giant that said and I'm paraphrasing here,"We've approved your Return Merchandise Authorization. Pack the part in it's original box. Box must have original label and original part number label undamaged. Print the return reduced cost shipping label (Free if it's our fault ) 'Yay" Return the package to a FEDEX or USPS. Once we receive the Item we will inspect it and verify item is undamaged. After undamaged part is accepted, you can expect a refund within 5 business days.

One of their emails had a review link. I clicked on the link and gave them the story. I got an email a couple of hours later from the review company that said "We've contacted GMPartsGiant.com and they said the order number you gave isn't a correct order number and they don't have your email on file". I copied the email that GM Parts Giant sent me with the review link and sent it to them. Let GM Part's Giant dispute that!!!

I got on GMpartsgiant.com's Chat and was hooked up with a rep named Carlos who said I will be assisting you.
I said,
So Let me get this straight. Your Company screwed up my order. Your company sent me the incorrect part, but in order for me to get my money back, I have to pack up your mistake, drive to a Post Office and ship it back to you all the while hoping that the box doesn't get damaged in shipping. Then I have the luxury of waiting an additional 5 days to receive my money back. Well done, you have taken customer service to a brand new low.

The First Chat Representative Carlos, ended the chat without responding. I thought, damn, he hung up on me. I got back into their chat and got Brianna. I said I wanted to speak to a manager. She gave me the phone number to call but asked if she could help me. I gave her the same rundown. She said "That's RMA policy" I said well why didn't you all say so, that changes everything doesn't it?" At this point they are holding my money hostage until I do as they demand. I thought at least they would give me a refund once they had verification the part had been shipped.

I have yet to have contact with any type of manager but just typing this has me feeling better. Hope someone read this and get's a chuckle. Guess I'm just expecting to much as I get older. I'm turning into one of those PIA old people. :p

I had the same horrible experience from GM parts store online. I stopped buying GM parts online too. Took me 3 months to get a refund from my cap one dispute.
I buy local now as much as possible for major replacement parts and support local businesses.

I have been using 1A Auto, and Summit Racing for the most part, I could have bought the part from Summit but it wouldn't ship till November so I opted to try this company. First time and last time.

I've bought parts from them as well, but for some reason I don't like their website. 1A auto doesn't have as big of a selection as RockAuto but the suspension rebuild kit I got from them was great. For some reason here in Las Vegas area no one wants to give a fair price. I was looking at a part advertised by a dealer online for $57.00. When I called them on the phone to see if it was in stock, the guy said I have 3 in stock and it's $115.00. I asked if I had to order it online to get the 57 dollar price and he said someone made a mistake and it would be taken down. I ordered it before they changed it and got it for $57 which was inline with other prices I saw on the web.

i have used gm parts giant with no problem , for a couple years ,i buy the hard to find parts no other dealer has anymore, i give them my vin to verify fitment, as a matter of fact i just received the cover over the bell housing inspection hole , and a new bezel for my left rear view mirror on my 99 alero, i am sorry you are having problems with them , but the only problem so far is their shipping cost, all my parts so far came from the las vegas area , i looked up zip code and i think its fairways gm was the shipper.

there is a dealer in yuma az that sells the steering cover on ebay , and will verify with you fit , and their price is reasonable

I figure not everyone has the experience that I had, I was just shocked at the response from their obvious error. I'm still waiting for my refund after sending the part back to them. I bought the cover from a local dealer for about the same price and it's now installed on my truck.

As a suggestion...you can always contact the Better Business Bureau (BBB) in your area with a complaint. Several years ago I had major problems with (fitment, low speed idle decay, etc.) with a Wynjammer super charger and the company. After contacting the BBB I was able to get my money back. Good luck!

Since I used PayPal I will file my complaint with them. Companies typically don't want to get on the wrong side of their payment providers. I did contact GMpartsgiant again today and said it's been 5 business days since they received the part and when could I expect my refund. I got an email that said
Hello from GMPartsGiant.com,
Please allow 5 business days for the inspection process after the date of delivery.
Even though today is the 6th day I decided I will contact PayPal tomorrow. This company obviously just doesn't give a flea sized fart about customer satisfaction.

I'm Happy to say after contacting Paypal and GMpartsgiant I finally got my refund. 8 business days after they received the part. I got an email from them saying that they were still looking into the refund. I said Why? how long does it take to open a box and verify the part was sent back? I got turned over to their Return Merchandise Authorization people again and they said I should get an email in the next 24 hours about the refund. I contacted PayPal and within 10 minutes, GMpartgiant sent an email saying they refunded the money.

I just don't understand why companies have to be such A@@holes when it's their mistake in the first place. I will NEVER EVER buy from them again. I feel better now. Thanks for reading.

Purchased 3rd row floor liner for my Tahoe. The part I received was the 2nd row floor liner, which I already had as it came with the car. Contacted them to return because I received the wrong part. The RMA guy marked it down “part no longer needed” and was told I had to pay for return shipping and 20% restocking fee. Was told to send pictures, which I did. The box it came with was mislabeled as it had a cutout of another cardboard box taped on it with the correct part number I ordered which corresponded to the 3rd row floor liner. Clearly an error on their part. Mistakes happen. I get it. I’ve spoken to Diana and Melissa and another guy who said the issue is they are waiting to hear from the dealer (don’t know who this is) who sent me the part. Been almost 2 weeks and I have been told it would be resolved by the end of the day each time I’ve called and I have received nothing. Not one person has even offered to send me the correct part I ordered. I just want a refund at this point and for them to own their mistake. I’ve sent plenty of pictures to show them this is just an error on their part. It shouldn’t be this difficult. Apparently they don’t care."

I purchased ac transfer case actuator and got a Dorman instead of GM. I requested to return and they noted "No longer needs" as suppose to admitting their fault. I returned it and they charged me restocking and shipping fees. STAY AWAY.

With repair parts in the entire automotive industry on shortage you should have kept the Dorman part. Some car owners are waiting 6 months or more for replacement parts I only use OEM parts but some times you have to deviate.

I have been there. I waited a year for my Bronco motor craft AC clutch, suburban calipers for 6 months. I did return the Dorman because I paid oem price and expecting oem product which is available. If I want dorman I would have gone somewhere else and paid less. I just want you all to be careful that you get what you expect from them.
