My fiance and I own a 1986 2wd 454 3/4 ton suburban. We recently got new wheels and tires for it. The body is nice with the exception of two dinks. We would like to put a new transmission and motor in it. Ideally we would like to place a new motor with the same hauling power as the 454 that will be easier on the pocket with the gas. We want to buy it ourselves and have a Chevy certified mechanic put it in. Ideally I would like to know if there is such a place that I can buy everythig for my suburban without having to pay the ridiculous prices of the Chevy dealer. We love our suburban. Our beast will be our family car for vacationing, etc.
