I'm looking into a new exhaust system... i need some noise

Anyone have any opinions on what i should look into getting?

me too

I'm looking for a new exhaust too! let me know what you get and how everything goes!

Here's an idea if you have a tubing bender and a lot of patience, make your own exhaust from scratch and put on a cheap muffler and experiment. My dad made my exhaust for my truck for $250 out of straight pipe, stock cat and no headers. I think it sounds okay, but it does back fire but who care's it works for it's purpose.

I would go with a magnaflow cat back system on your truck

just a suggestion, if you want it RFL then this is the trick. pick up some 3in shorty headers, cut off the cats(keeping O2 sensors), run new 3in piping, get two 1-chamber racing mufflers of any brand, and dump it at the crossmember under the cab.......thats how mine is and i set off all the car alarms in parking lots just idling around the lot. makes it sound more like a dragster than a truck. only draw back is ITS ILLEGAL, but Ive had mine that way for 3 years without a single hassle from police. (MISSISSIPPI LAWS ARE SO LAX!!!!!!)

do you have any sounds of yours?
no, i've tried to make videos and clips but it ends up being soo loud it distorts really bad. i will ad that its so loud you can hear the factory cam lope. i originally had it dumped right off the headers and it was so loud you couldnt ride in the truck so i lenghtened the exhaust to the crossmember to "tone it down" a bit. now its loud as hell and you can stand to ride in it.

I had Magnaflow on my 06 Avalanche. It sounded nice but a little too mellow for me. On the 00 Silverado that I have now I had a flowmaster style muffler put on. By flowmaster style I mean it is the exect sme thing as a Flowmaster but made by someone else now that their patent ran out. It was much cheaper and sounds more aggresive than the Magnaflow. The muffler guy told me it flows more air than the Magnaflow as well.

cherrybomb extream mufflers are great you can listen to them on a chevy on youtube. Or you can go to there web site and listen to the sounds.

get some really spokey wheels, some playing cards, and some clothes pins. you will have the best sounding setup on the street!. i like my flowmaster duals

Magnaflow single cat-back. Love mine.

What does that mean? I am not blond but were you trying to make a joke. lol

Go cheap like I did.......... Grab a sawzall and midway between the cat and muffler... start wackin. I like how mine sounds. I live in the country though with no deq and whatnot.

lol dang i must be blond i just got the joke as i read your post. Hey man really check out that cherry bomb website them mufflers sound hella good.

#21 ·
just remember this not many people go with the cherry bomb because they are just getting in to making the mufflers. You would be amazed how many people at gas stations or at a store ask me what kind of muffler i have because they say "man that sounds good" when i say cherry bomb they are like no way they make glass packs dont they. I am telling you that you wont go wrong with the cherry bomb and you will disturbe the peace.

exhaust

I got a knockoff flowmaster installed at muffler man for $125, and I think it sounds great, and couldn't find anywhere else to beat the price.

I got flowmaster lookalikes for around 100 bucks. I got the pipes cut off at the muffler and turned down. It's not so loud that it sets off alarms idling, but I really like the way it sounds while accelerating. I was actually thinking about getting a cherry bomb muffler installed, who doesn't want their truck to be a little louder?? I just don't want anything that isn't legal.

#24 ·
They are legal as long as you dont get the closed coarse muffler the are not ear bleading loud they just have a unique sound.

For anyone else reading this thread who still has not made up their mind . . . you can go to the Magnaflow and Flowmaster websites to watch video clips that have idling and drive by on many different mufflers and vehicles. You can also go to some websites like Kinneysmufflershop.com and the have a video gallery with various vehicles and setups. You may find this is helpful in picking out the right sound for your vehicle.

I want to get a performance muffler on my new 09 Silverado, but I don't want loud. I'd rather go mild. I had Magnaflows on a Mustang 5.0 once and they sounded good. Not obnoxious, but had authority.

thought about doing the same to my 06 5.3 but....
for about $12 at my home depot i bought a metal 2.75" door handle bit and drilled straight into my muffler next to the pipe..
it allows for more air flow with a sound ive never heard on any chevy. it sounds completely custom and u still have your factory pipe sticking out one side.. makes it seem like its a sleeper with some engine mods.. i want the flowmaster 50 series but this was a temporary thing until then. and out of all honesty ive noticed i get up to speed faster and my mileage isnt 12-13 around the island, more like 14 now..
