Hi. I have a 2014 Silverado 1500 LT Extended Cab, 2WD, 5.3L It has the following RPO codes:
Z82 TRAILERING PACKAGE(SPECIAL)(REESE TYPE HITCH)
Z85 CHASSIS PACKAGE,INCREASED CAPACITY
L83 ENGINE GAS, 8 CYL, 5.3L, SIDI VVT, AFM, E85 MAX, ALUM, GM
JD9 BRAKE VAC POWER, 17' DISC/DISC, W/VSES, 7700 LBS
JL1 Control, Integrated Trailer Brake
KC4 Cooling System, Engine Oil
KNP COOLING SYSTEM,TRANSMISSION,HEAVY DUTY
GU4 AXLE,REAR,3.08 RATIO
G80 AXLE,REAR,POSITRACTION,LIMITED SLIP
.
Does having these items installed increase my towing capacity at all?? The owners' manual says max trailer weight is 6,900 lbs and GCWR is 12,000 lbs. How do I find out the hitch weight capacity?

The hitch weight (tongue wt) plus truck passengers and bed cargo weight must not exceed the payload capacity of your truck which is about 1,970 lbs I think. (Check the sticker)
Hitch wt is usually 10% of trailer wt. or 690 lbs. (Some are 15%). Two passengers at 350 lbs. That leaves you about 930 lbs of cargo to load.
The Z85 package will increase your payload/towing cap due to heavier rear springs.
The rear diff of 3.08 will not
The tranny external cooler will help your transmission from overheating

Hi. And thanks. The sticker says passengers and cargo weight not to exceed 1,785 pounds. Can you help me understanding the 3.08 gearing a bit? So 3.08 is a higher gear and therefore it will be harder for the truck/engine to get the load moving, yes?
My truck does have a manual/automatic transmission. Will that help? I can shift it into "M" and then set the highest gear I want it to shift in to.

The 3.08 is a higher gear and will make your transmission downshift a lot while cruising even on small inclines.
Find the best gear in manual where your rpms are in the 3000 to 3500 rpm and with less shifts.
The 5.3L has 355 hp but at 5600rpm.
Do not town in "D".
Tow in M4 or M5 when towing over 6k lb trailers.

Oh, watch your trans fluid temp on the DIC. Slow down when you see it above 225F. Plan on replacing the tiny external cooler with a bigger one with a 180F thermal bypass.
