I have a 1997 5.7L k1500 with an NP243 (electronic) transfer case. I traded an 04 with 75k miles for it even though it was over 220k for good reason, bc I'm over the new tech that costs more to diagnose the problem at a shop than fix it yourself. I have an np241 on the side but here is my question: Can i leave my 243 installed, lose the electronic module connected and install the lever set up in my floorboard without conversion?

Nothing is wrong with the 243 i have in it OR the 241 i have ready to replace it. I've read other forums and haven't found if any components on either one are different or if the motor added is what changed the model name for it. I'd like to remove the electronic module on the TC and hook up the lever that ends in the floorboard with a shifter. can the happen

I think if you collect the different parts to re-establish a floor mounted transfer case shifter, it would work fine so long as the transfer case, The 241, is a bolt in swap. But I'm not too sure your ECM in your truck, would not find a problem if it no longer gets a signal from the electronic transfer case, the "243" !
