Hi everyone!
Have a pesky oil leak that I can't seem to wrap my head around. The vehicle is a 2014 silverado with the 5.3L flex and 6L80E transmission. The dripping appears to be coming where the bellhousing and engine meet. There's one little hole that I think it's coming from, but that's not the source of the leak. I took a look inside the bellhousing and it doesn't appear to be the rear main seal either, it was mostly a dry film when I pulled the little metal cover.
it only starts dripping after a few minutes when started, and stops shortly after it's off. That made me think oil cooler or the lines but it's not the right area for that type of leak - unless it's coming from higher up and takes time for it to drip down.
Four different mechanics said four different things so nobody knows what's wrong. The latest shop (which I trust) said it could be the valve cover and/or valley pan but it's hard to say since it's all crammed at the back of the engine. Maybe crankshaft position sensor? Knock sensor? I have no idea.
